SPECIAL TRAVEL
American Airlines - Miles For Kids in Need
This special program is specifically designed to provide air transportation for children in need of medical treatment or to fulfil the wish of an ill child.
To be considered for the program, each candidate must be a dependent child not exceeding 23 years of age, and the family must be recommended by a social worker at a medical institution, a charitable organization or a church. Acceptance is determined upon receipt of the following information:
* Child's name and date of birth
* Nature of illness and reason for transportation request
* Verification of need for financial aid
* Parents' names and daytime phone number
* Travel information, i.e. date, origination and destination
* Medical needs (wheelchair, oxygen, etc.)
* We also need a signed letter from the child's local physician referring child for treatment to another location stating the purpose of flight, medical background and current medical condition. The doctor must also inform us if the child is medically stable to fly and of any special assistance needed on the flight.
Once the child is approved for assistance through Miles For Kids In Need, American Airlines will provide round-trip tickets to the requested destination for the child and one or both parents.
American Airlines is proud to offer this special program for children in need. If you feel your request meets the guidelines outlined above, we will be pleased to give the child our most careful and confidential consideration. If I may be of further assistance, please let me know.
