For years we have been referring people with CMT to doctors all over North America. Our lists have not been updated in some time. Therefore, I am only going to list the doctors that I know are familiar with CMT.

We do know that Dr. Michael Shy and the people who work with him at the Wayne State Clinic in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. know CMT and that Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky and the people who work with him at his clinic at McMaster University Medical Centre in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, know CMT. They are in this list.

Drs. Thomas Bird and Greg Carter in Washington State are also well versed in the disease. I do not know the doctors in London, Ontario and have not had a working relationship with them. I can only say that some people have gone to them.

Rather than put the names and addresses of several hundred doctors here with what could be some incorrect or outdated information, please e-mail me at linda@lindacrabtree.com for the doctors nearest you. I'll do my best to get back to you and would appreciate it if you'd help me find doctors in your area who truly know CMT. I simply do not have the resources to call each and every one of them to update their information.

Some people actually make a vacation of going to one of these doctors or clinics. They take a couple of days and enjoy the area. Detroit is near Windsor, Ontario with its huge casino, etc. and Hamilton, Ontario is within easy driving distance of Niagara Falls and everything that area has to offer. I'll build on this list as you tell me of doctors you have found who truly know CMT.
The best way to find a doctor who knows CMT is to ask around in your area. See if you can find others who also have CMT. You could even put a little notice in the newspaper asking for people with CMT to get in touch with you. That way you can all pool your information, the doctors you've found and the things that have helped each of you.
